How it all started...
In 1990, six families gathered with a shared burden and vision: to establish a church in Orefield where the Bible would be faithfully preached, honored as God’s Word, and where believers could grow together as a true family in Christ. United by prayer, conviction, and a desire to reach their community, these founding families stepped out in faith to begin what would become a lasting ministry.
This new church work was planted out of Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James E. Barr. With his guidance and encouragement, the young congregation was established on a foundation of biblical truth, Christ-centered worship, and genuine fellowship.
From its earliest days, the church sought to be more than just a place people attended—it aimed to be a spiritual home where lives could be shared, burdens carried together, and faith strengthened through the teaching of Scripture and the love of God’s people. What began with six faithful families has continued as a testimony of God’s provision and faithfulness through the years.

Expanding the vision...
Today, Heritage Baptist Church continues to build upon the strong biblical foundation established by its founding families while embracing the opportunities and needs of a changing world. Under the leadership of Pastor Lucas C. Rex, who faithfully serves both the church and our nation as a Navy Chaplain, the church seeks to minister with compassion, grace, and Christlike love to all people. Heritage Baptist remains committed to honoring the timeless truths of Scripture and the rich traditions that shaped its history, while thoughtfully adapting its ministry and worship to connect with today’s families and community. Through meaningful worship, authentic relationships, and a heart for service, the church strives to keep God at the center of everything it does, creating a welcoming place where people from every walk of life can experience truth, hope, and the love of Christ.
Where we are headed...
At Heritage Baptist Church, we believe God is leading us into a season of deeper connection, intentional discipleship, and strengthened fellowship. As we look toward the future, our desire is to become even more engaged with our community by building meaningful relationships, serving with compassion, and sharing the hope of the Gospel in practical ways. We are also committed to equipping the next generation to become faithful leaders within the church by investing in their spiritual growth, encouraging their gifts, and providing opportunities for them to serve and lead. At the same time, we are placing a renewed emphasis on small group relationships, knowing that genuine Christian growth often happens best in close, personal community. Through these groups, we desire to cultivate the warm, family-centered spirit that defines Heritage Baptist Church, where people are known, cared for, encouraged, and strengthened together in Christ.
